The foundation upon which a business is built ultimately determines its success or failure. Homecraft was established on the strong pillars of hard work, perseverance, and dedication to quality. For this reason, Homecraft has been manufacturing saunas in Surrey, B.C., Canada, for over three decades.
After 33 years, Homecraft was sold and is now owned by David and Kyle Wilson, two brothers with strong ties to the business since its inception. Kyle shared with the North American Sauna Society about how the opportunity to purchase the business has come full circle:
“My father, an original owner of Homecraft, sold his share of the company within a few years, but the love for the sauna never left us. We always had a traditional sauna installed in every home we lived in. In 2002, as an 18-year-old kid out of high school, I worked for short stints at Homecraft, assisting in different areas of the shop, witnessing how a sauna heater is made, and falling in love with the smell of a wood shop fully stocked with Canadian Western Red Cedar.
Life has moved swiftly over the past 20 years, with marriage, children, career changes, and living abroad for 14 years. Upon our return to Vancouver in April 2021, major life choices had to be made. A few months into our return, my brother approached me with the opportunity to buy Homecraft Saunas, the company my father once owned. The long-lasting positive memories associated with the sauna and the opportunity to own a unique business were too much to turn down. We were able to come to an agreement and purchased the company on February 1st, 2021.”
With such a rich history with the business, Homecraft continues to build on its strong presence within the sauna market in North America.
