Building the Foundation
The Homecraft story began in 1988, when Stewart Wilson, a believer in the power of sauna, approached a small group of friends with an idea: to purchase an existing sauna heater line called Homecraft Heaters from their employer, Spincraft. What started as a shared dream soon became reality. The group acquired the line and began manufacturing heaters under the Homecraft name — with a commitment to quality, reliability, and authentic sauna tradition.
Through the 1990s and 2000s, Homecraft steadily earned its place as one of Canada’s most respected sauna heater brands. Our products became known for their approachable design, dependable performance, and the kind of enduring craftsmanship that stood the test of time — even as the sauna industry faced its share of challenges and change.

A New Chapter
After 33 years of steady growth, Homecraft entered a new era when ownership passed to David and Kyle Wilson — brothers with a lifelong connection to the company. Their father, Stewart, had been one of the original founders, and the return of Homecraft to the Wilson family marked a full-circle moment.
Reflecting on that journey, Kyle Wilson shared with the North American Sauna Society:
“My father, an original owner of Homecraft, sold his share of the company within a few years, but the love for the sauna never left us. We always had a traditional sauna in every home we lived in. In 2002, as an 18-year-old kid, I worked briefly at Homecraft, learning how heaters were built and falling in love with the smell of a wood shop full of Western Red Cedar. Life moved quickly — marriage, kids, and 14 years living abroad — but when I returned to Vancouver in 2021, my brother approached me with an opportunity to buy Homecraft, the company our father once owned. The memories and meaning behind the name were too strong to ignore. We completed the purchase on February 1, 2021, and began writing the next chapter of Homecraft’s story.”
