When should I apply sauna sealant?
Apply sealant to clean, dry cedar before your first sauna session or when you notice discoloration beginning to form. The sealant works best as a preventive barrier. Once oils have deeply stained the wood, sealant won’t remove existing stains but will prevent further discoloration. One coat provides long-lasting protection; reapply annually or as needed in high-contact areas like benches and backrests.
Is this sealant safe to use in high heat?
Yes. This formula is specifically designed for sauna temperatures and won’t break down, release fumes, or become tacky when heated, unlike standard wood sealers. The water-based, non-toxic formula remains completely safe during sauna use. Allow 24 hours drying time before your first session after application.
